About this policy

This policy describes the data handling supported by the current Storage Mediet Detective application. The app helps you analyze a folder, review storage usage, identify duplicate files, and select files for cleanup.

Data access and on-device processing

You choose a folder using Android’s system folder picker. The app requests persistent read and write access to that folder so it can analyze accessible files and, after your confirmation, delete supported files. You can release saved folder access in the app.

The app reads file and folder names, document identifiers and locations, file sizes, modification dates, file types inferred from extensions, and whether files support deletion. To identify duplicates, it reads the contents of files with matching sizes and calculates SHA-256 hashes on your device. File contents are processed for comparison; the app’s saved reports contain metadata and hashes rather than copies of file contents.

The app also reads total and available device storage capacity to display storage information. Analysis can be incomplete if you stop a scan or files cannot be read or have changed.

Purposes

This information is used to display storage breakdowns, browse and search files, sort and filter results, identify duplicate groups, maintain analysis snapshots, generate reports, and carry out file deletions you confirm. The app does not require an account.

Local storage and retention

The app automatically saves analysis results locally and also provides a Save report control. It keeps up to 30 recent analyses, replacing older reports as new reports are saved. Saved reports include the selected folder identifier, analysis date, file names and locations, sizes, modification dates, deletion capability, available content hashes, and information about incomplete scans.

Reports are stored in the app’s private Android preferences. They remain until you remove an individual report, clear analysis history, clear app storage, or uninstall the app, subject to Android backup and restoration behavior. Saved folder permissions remain until released or removed by Android. Releasing folder access does not itself erase saved reports.

Android backup is enabled in the current application configuration. Depending on your device settings and Android’s backup service, app data may be included in system backups or device transfers. Those processes are controlled by Android and your backup provider.

Sharing and exports

The inspected application does not implement automatic uploads of scanned files or analysis reports to the developer. You can choose to share an analysis summary through Android’s sharing interface. A summary includes the analysis date, folder identifier, file counts, storage totals, category totals, duplicate-group count, and scan completeness information.

You can also export a CSV report to a location you select and share it with an app you choose. CSV reports include file names, folder locations, sizes, categories, modification dates, available SHA-256 hashes, and report details. Reports can therefore reveal information about your files even though they do not contain the files themselves.

Recipients, destination apps, and storage providers handle exported or shared information under their own policies. A document provider you select may supply remote files or save exports remotely; any resulting network activity is handled by that provider. Exported and shared copies remain outside the app’s history controls.

Network access, advertising, and third-party software

The inspected source includes Android and Jetpack Compose components and Kotlin coroutine libraries. No advertising, analytics, or remote crash-reporting SDK is configured in the inspected dependencies, and no code accessing the advertising identifier was found. The Android manifest nevertheless declares Internet and advertising-ID permissions; these declarations alone do not establish that an identifier is collected or that ads are displayed.

The source also contains a WebView for a managed terms and privacy page. The current launch state opens the native app without displaying that WebView. If the web page is loaded, it would require a network request. The inspected source does not establish the page provider’s data handling. Folder analysis itself runs on your device and does not implement a developer-operated upload service.

Security

The app uses Android’s folder permission system to limit file access to folders you authorize and stores reports in private app preferences. Before deleting a file, it checks whether deletion is supported and whether its size and modification date still match the analysis. These measures cannot guarantee security or prevent all file changes.

The source does not establish additional encryption for saved reports or exported CSV files. Because analysis has no implemented upload channel, there is no analysis transmission for which transport encryption can be described. Security of Android backups, document providers, and sharing destinations depends on those services and your settings.

Deletion and your controls

No files are selected automatically for cleanup. You review your selections and confirm before permanent deletion. Files that have changed, are unavailable, or do not support deletion are skipped or reported as unsuccessful. Permanent deletion cannot be undone through the app.

You can remove saved reports individually or clear all analysis history. Removing history does not delete the original files. Likewise, deleting original files does not necessarily remove metadata from previously saved snapshots. Delete those snapshots separately if needed.

To remove exported reports or copies shared elsewhere, use the controls of the destination or contact the recipient. Android backup copies are subject to the backup service’s controls and retention practices.

For privacy questions or deletion-related requests, contact info@veblaif.online. The current app does not provide an account-based or server-side deletion request feature, and the developer cannot directly erase files or reports stored only on your device through that contact channel.

Diagnostics

The app records some operational errors and exception details in Android system logs, such as folder-access, scanning, export, history, and deletion failures. Those details may include technical information about document access. No automatic transmission of these logs to the developer is implemented in the inspected source. A fixed log-retention period is not established by the app source.

Children’s privacy

The supplied information does not specify an intended age range or a child-specific service. The inspected app has no registration or age-collection feature. File names and reports may contain personal information about anyone, including children, so review report contents before sharing them.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when the app’s features or data practices change. Review the latest version made available with the app for current information.
